Who We Are:

STRIVE Student Ministries and First Baptist Church of Weston are committed to love, nurture, inspire, and equip our youth to be faithful, lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ who STRIVE to reach out to the community and beyond.

Our hope is to equip students to serve as fully devoted disciples of Christ so that they STRIVE to live their lives in such a way that they:

Submit to God (Matthew 16:24-26)

Take part in Community (Matthew 5:13-16)

Respect One Another (Matthew 7:12; Romans 12:9-21)

Invite Others Along (John 1:14)

Value the Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

Experience God (Romans 12:2; 1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

Our Values:

Love: We show compassion, concern and care for others because we first have been loved by Christ.

Welcome: We seek to live as a unique community of faith in which everyone feels welcome.

Excitement: We strive to create an environment that attracts youth and families, both members and non-members.

Spiritually: We base our programming on the foundation of a common faith in Jesus Christ.

Leadership: We affirm that all baptized believers are gifted by the Holy Spirit and called to serve within the body of Christ.

Growth: We endeavor to be lifelong disciples who are continually growing in our faith.

Mission: We express our faith in specific, tangible acts of service, particularly to those in need.

Trust: We affirm an atmosphere of acceptance in which the expression of honest questions and minority opinions is valued.

God-Based: We seek to be more like Jesus, living out the fruits of the Spirit, remembering that God is the center of everything we do.

Discipleship: We desire to be grounded in the foundations of our faith and to communicate our faith effectively and confidently with others.

Love: We strive to be aware of the needs of others and to demonstrate love and compassion to all who come in contact with our youth ministry.

Joy: We live with a contagious excitement about our faith that draws others to become a part of our church family.

Safety: We provide trustworthy adult leaders for all youth and a welcoming environment in which youth feel safe asking questions and seeking support and guidance.

Sacrifice: We acknowledge that Jesus’ call to love God and neighbor can be costly and often involves giving ourselves in service.
